There have been rising concerns over delay in the payment of January salaries of federal workers. The delay was blamed on the non-conclusion of the 2024 appropriation on the GIFMIS platform by the Office of Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).

Amid concerns around the delay of federal government workers’ January salaries, the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs Oluwatoyin Madein, said payment will commence on Thursday.
The Director of Press and Public Relations at the Office of the Accountant General, Bawa Mokwa, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, the glitch experienced with the Government Integrated Financial Management System, GIFMIS, platform has been resolved, and workers will start receiving January salaries.
“We have sorted out the issue, and workers will start receiving their payment starting this Thursday evening,” he said.
All the 36 states in Nigeria will soon receiving salaries payment including Abia State, Adamawa State, Akwa Ibom State, Anambra State, Bauchi State, Bayelsa State, Benue State, Borno State, Cross River State, Delta State, Ebonyi State, Edo State, Ekiti State, Enugu State, Abuja Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Gombe State, Imo State, Jigawa State, Kaduna State, Kano State, Katsina State, Kebbi State, Kogi State, Kwara State, Lagos State, Nasarawa State, Niger State, Ogun State Ondo State,Osun State, Oyo State, Plateau State, Rivers State, Sokoto State, Taraba State, Yobe State and Zamfara State.
