UEFA Champions League Round 16 2021/2022 update draw: first leg starting February 2022

2021/2022 Champions League Round 16 updated draws is finally out, Atletico Madrid will face United while Real Madrid will take on Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool play Inter, Chelsea face Ligue 1 champions Lille, while Manchester City are set to play Sporting. Juventus will take reigning Europa League winners Villarreal.

There was argument if the draw will stand, Confusion over last-16 draw after Manchester United were not put into the pot of group winners after runners-up Atletico Madrid were drawn, while Liverpool were also mistakenly put into the pot to potentially face Atletico despite playing them in the group stages

A mistake initially saw United drawn to play Villarreal, but after that was corrected given both teams played one another in the groups, it was City’s name picked to face Villarreal.

Meanwhile, UEFA has declared the first draw as void.

City, last season’s losing finalists, will play Sporting. Man City are still topping the standings with 38 points after their crucial win over Wolves. West Ham were the biggest losers from match week 16 following their draw at Burnley and are now in danger of dropping out of the top four. Renaldo’s penalty helped Manchester United.
